Alabama born and bred, Travis has worked with the Department of Defense and NASA for the past 25 years, but his oddest job was working in a chicken

He is currently working on several advanced propulsion concepts, very large space telescopes, space-based beamed energy systems, high-energy lasers, and next-generation space launch concepts. Taylor has written more than 25 technical papers, 14 science fiction novels and two text- books, and has appeared in multiple television documentaries, includ- ing NGC’s recently highly-rated special When Aliens Attack. Currently starring in National Geographic Channel’s “Rocket City Rednecks”.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
