In this video we’re going to go through the gameplay step by step to determine what falls into which category and why. Enjoy!

I think the best way to play most open ended games is to start on easy with no play style in mind.
Don’t focus too much on scavenger hunting or finding lore.

Once you finish the game like that, your second play through is when you decide what difficulty you want, what play style you tended to lean towards in the first, and try to complete as much as you can.

i have to critique your analysis of the whole "they dont encourage you to go in stealthy" part. Its not about violent vs stealthy. Its a comment on morality. It is more moral to leave guards alive and moral to not kill. Killing them all is easy because you dont have to think, but the narative changes to show how you are a monster. What it wants to convey is how in games, it becomes to easy to just kill everyone and everything while ignoring the morality those actions are teaching.

43:00 I have an example of this alien isolation is you hide from the alien in the exact same way over and over again for example hiding in a locker the aliens ai will adapt and check lockers.

this game is the best game i ever played dishonored 2 has so much less substance but was still fun and the gameplay pisses me off wasting alot of mana i only use 2 or 4 mana potions each level i refuse to use more then 5 and i save scum like 14 or 20 times a level i love how overpowered everything is makes you feel like a badass and not a mortal bitch

That looking through the keyhole thing is hilarious, because all I can imagine is a guy with a keyhole eye patch on turning his head in every direction. They should have kept the keyhole like it would be in real life.

Blinking and headshots are a little more difficult if you play using a controller instead of mouse and keyboard.

I’ve beaten dishonored 1 seven times, it’s my favorite game of all time. D2 was perfect for me, except.. I hated Karnaca. :/ I was so used to the dark and gloomy city of Dunwall and even though I beat D2, it just didn’t have that aesthetic I wanted. Other than that, D2 was perfect. So was DOTO. 🙂

15:21 "… seems as face value to encourage a very chaotic play style." Were we playing the same game? I took one look at what happens on a chaotic run and went as far in the opposite direction as I could. In what way does more danger from more chaos encourage you to play chaotically?!

On your comments on the erratic behavior of the guards at higher difficulties and chaos levels, that actually makes sense. In the real world, one of the first things they teach when dealing with spies or similarly skilled infiltration specialists is to have irregular patrol lengths and routes, have guards switch out frequently, but not regularly. Everything to minimize the threat of someone observing you to predict future actions.

Lots of players seem to forget to use the "Possess" skill, yes with the rats but particularly with fish – you can get to all kinds of secret places by becoming a sharp-toothed guppy!

My favorite way to play this game is no kills, no powers, never detected, and even no sleep darts or knocking people unconscious. It makes the whole game new and every missions best path is drastically more risky than it used to be. The game becomes ten times as tense.

With powers, I never took the "main" paths, always traveling on roofs or through abandoned buildings. With no powers you are often forced to be in extremely close proximity to guards, learning their patterns sometimes to have to sprint for a split second to the next hiding spot, filling 2 or 3 of the detection bars. I feel like I found out much more about the game and every map like this.

Just a side note, even with no powers blink 1 is required in the game for meeting the outsider, and then twice after that. Other than that it is never needed.

You keep saying the right way, the intended way, the game is punishing you etc, but I feel that's incorrect. I don't see the gameworld changes as punishment. And you have so many tools for killing, obviously you are being encouraged to explore them and have fun. First trailer I saw of the game was the "drunken whaler" one, and it is a complete blood bath.

    The game Requires 6 playthroughs.
1: Never seen, never heard, no casualties.
2: Never seen, never heard, everyone between you and objective dead.
3: Alwasy seen, always heard, going out of your way to slaughter everyone.
4, 5 & 6: the same as 1 2 & 3 except you use different skills, methods and create different handicaps for yourself this time around.

You play horribly. In the vid I haven't seen any sliding, jumpin on enemies heads, teleporting mid attack, shooting granades and etc. and that's 1/3 of the dishonored series.

Weak. Much rambling, without clear point to make. Shallow analysis, without understanding wider genre considerations and placing a game in a wider picture. It's less of a critique, even less as review. More like exploring or first impressions. Think more, play more, research more – talk less. Make better scripts, go beyond what is obvious to any genre-fan.

9 months late, probably already been said: doing a high chaos playthrough will add more guards to later missions (you can tell by checking Emily’s bedroom wall with the finger painting of Corvo, face or masked)
An example would be the addition of the Tallboy enemy (pain in the ass if they catch you off guard) in a certain point of the story. If you took a low chaos approach, they’re nowhere to be found
